Description
SEMAX — Synthetic Peptide
Semax is a synthetic peptide originally developed in Russia, derived from a short fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4–7) but designed without the hormonal effects normally associated with ACTH. It has mainly attracted research interest for its potential effects on the brain, cognition and neurological protection.
Research has explored Semax for possible effects on memory, learning, attention and mental performance. Experimental work suggests it may influence signalling pathways involving BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor)and other systems associated with neuroplasticity and neuronal survival. It has also been investigated in areas such as cerebral ischemia and recovery following neurological injury, although the strength and accessibility of the clinical evidence vary considerably.
🧠 Areas of research include: memory and learning • attention and concentration • neuroplasticity • BDNF signalling • neuronal protection • cognitive performance • neurological recovery.
As with Selank, the claims surrounding Semax online often run considerably ahead of the evidence. It should not be described as proven to improve intelligence, prevent dementia, repair brain damage or treat neurological disease. Semax is also not an approved medicine in the UK, and much of its clinical literature originates from Russia and is less extensive than the evidence required for routinely approved medicines.
Research use only — not intended for human consumption.
